Did you know that you could have a crown placed in the same day as your initial appointment? It’s true; rather than waiting weeks for the fabrication of custom dental crowns in a laboratory, you can receive your crown shortly after your dentist prepares your tooth for a restoration. CEREC crowns are constructed with an on-site milling machine that offers advanced technology to make a custom restoration quickly. Receiving a permanent crown at our practice is beneficial because it eliminates weeks of wait time so that patients can enjoy a restored smile and renewed oral function of a treated tooth as soon as possible. Moreover, CEREC crowns are milled from blocks of high quality porcelain, which provides a durable yet natural looking restoration.
What is CEREC?
CEREC is a technology that allows our practice to fabricate custom restorations like dental crowns, inlays, onlays, and even veneers on-site. Instead of sending molds and specifications to a dental laboratory, we can speed up the process for custom restorations by milling them chair side. Using advanced computer programs to develop three-dimensional specifications for a restoration and a precise milling machine, patients can enjoy beautiful, natural looking, and comfortable restorations in record time.
Why are dental crowns necessary?
Dental crowns might be necessary for a few different reasons. Broken and diseased teeth that can no longer function optimally can be rebuilt with a dental crown. A crown is like a cap that fits over a tooth above the gums. It is placed to restore a tooth’s shape and size. Once a crown is placed, it will restore oral function, support adjacent teeth, and protect a diseased/damaged tooth from developing further complications.
Is CEREC durable?
CEREC crowns are very durable. Porcelain is used in conventional restorations as well because it is a strong material that is very lifelike in appearance. The ceramic from which CEREC is made is of the highest quality to ensure that our patients receive long lasting dental work.
